Domnia privacy policy
Last updated 20 October 2026
Domnia: Smart Home Automation ("Domnia", "the app"), published by Wellmate Group, lets you control the smart home devices you own. This policy explains what happens to your information. The same text is in the app under Settings › Privacy policy.
The short version
Domnia does not collect, store or sell personal data. There is no Domnia account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
What the app keeps on your device
- The addresses of the hubs and devices you connect, such as a Home Assistant or openHAB server, or Shelly and WLED devices.
- Access tokens and device passwords you enter, kept in the device's secure storage (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore).
- Your favourites, scenes, schedules, automations and wall-tablet settings, including a salted hash of your admin PIN, never the PIN itself.
- For Matter devices you pair with Domnia: the keys of Domnia's own Matter network, the names and rooms you give the devices, and their last readings.
- Your appearance choices and, if you pick one, a copy of your background photo. Domnia only receives the photo you choose, not your photo library.
- If you set it, where your home is: one point, for sunrise and sunset times and for noticing when you arrive or leave.
All of this stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app.
Who the app talks to
Domnia connects only to the hubs and devices you choose, usually on your home network. When you connect a hub such as Home Assistant, information passes between the app and that hub under the hub's own terms and privacy policy. Domnia's developers receive none of it.
On iPhone and iPad, if you connect Apple Home, Domnia asks for permission to use your Home data. It reads and controls your accessories through Apple's HomeKit, on your device only, and never uses Home data for anything else.
On Android, if you connect Google Home, Google asks which home and devices Domnia may use. Domnia reads and controls them through Google's Home APIs on your device, under Google's terms, and never uses that data for anything else.
If you sign in to Home Assistant, you sign in on your own Home Assistant's page; Domnia keeps only the access token it creates.
Matter devices you pair with Domnia are controlled directly over your home network. Pairing uses your phone's own Matter setup (Apple's on iPhone and iPad, Google Play services on Android), which works under Apple's or Google's terms.
To tell you when an update is out, Domnia asks the App Store or Google Play which version of Domnia is current. Nothing about you or your home is sent.
Services you set up yourself
Domnia has no servers of its own. Some things work through services you choose and set up yourself:
- Tuya and Smart Life devices reach Domnia through your own Home Assistant and its Tuya integration. Domnia never connects to Tuya and sends it nothing.
- If you add an away-from-home address for Home Assistant, such as a Tailscale or Home Assistant Cloud address, Domnia uses it only to reach your own Home Assistant. Those services work under their own terms and prices; Tailscale's free plan is for personal use.
Diagnostics you choose to send
Help & support can make a diagnostics report: the app version, your phone's system version, what is connected, which devices aren't responding, and recent connection events. It has no passwords or tokens, and addresses are masked. You see the report first, and it is only sent if you share or email it yourself.
Cameras
Live camera pictures are streamed from your hub to the app for you to watch. Domnia does not record or upload them.
Local network
The app asks for permission to find and talk to devices on your local network, and uses it only to discover and control your devices, including finding a device again when your router gives it a new address. Phone and wall panel copies your scenes and automations straight to another of your own devices over your home Wi-Fi, after you enter the code it shows. Nothing goes through the internet, and passwords, tokens and addresses are never included.
Location
Location is off unless you turn it on, in Scenes › Welcome home & Goodbye. If you set your home's location, Domnia reads your location once and keeps that one point on your device, for sunrise and sunset times. If you also turn on arrival by location, Domnia uses location data to enable Welcome home & Goodbye even when the app is closed or not in use: your phone's own geofencing tells Domnia when you cross a circle about 150 metres around home, and Domnia shows a notification. Domnia does not record where you go, keeps no location history, and never sends your location to us or anyone else. You can turn it off at any time, in the app or in your phone's settings.
Children
Domnia is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here and in the app with a new date.
